Counseling
Counseling is generally appropriate for individuals or families who are experiencing challenges in their life which have exceeded the individual's or system's ability to function or adjust in a comfortable manner. These issues may be recent and temporary or may be something that has been a lifelong struggle. Sometimes people come to counseling with a very clear idea of what they perceive the problem to be. At other times someone may simply feel that something is not right or going as well as it could be. Either situation is ok, as it is part of the counselor's job to help you to identify and define the problem and then work together towards planning a course of resolution.
At Paradise Creek Counseling and Consulting we view the counseling relationship to be one of collaboration. We recognize that each client's situation is unique and we work with each client to design and implement a treatment plan which suits their needs. One course of treatment may be appropriate for one individual or family, but not another. Our counselors have pursued different areas of specialization and expertise and we work as a team to provide the highest quality treatment for all of our clients.
Initially your counselor will spend some time gathering information and getting to know you and/or your family's unique situation. This process may utilize questions and discussion, various assessment instruments, and observation of children's play and patterns of family interaction. After this initial phase you and your counselor will decide what course of treatment is most appropriate for satisfactory problem resolution. During the treatment phase counselors may employ a variety of techniques including traditional talk therapy, experiential activities, play therapy, homework assignments, and may suggest other professionals or services which may enhance progress.
If you believe that counseling may be helpful to you or your family please contact us through phone or email. We are happy to answer any questions or to schedule an appointment.
